Day of Prayer for Peace throughout the World
On Thursday, October 26, our Parish observed a day of prayer for peace throughout the world, especially for the Holy Land, Israel, Gaza, Ukraine, and Africa.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament took place from 9 AM to 8 PM in Immaculate Conception Church. Adoration begins with Exposition at 9 AM after the 8:30 AM Mass and concluded with Benediction at 8 PM.
There were holy hours at 4:30 PM and 7 PM to allow the Parish to join together in prayer.
May the Prince of Peace stir the hearts of humanity to embrace an end to senseless violence and destruction.

Bishop Steven Lopes, chair of the Bishops’ Committee on Liturgy for the USCCB, explained that there should be a special Mass in every Parish in Memory of Pope Benedict XVI. He also requested the implementation of a longstanding custom: the Novemdiales.
“It is the custom that the nine days following the funeral of a Pope are observed as official days of mourning in Rome and throughout the Church. The Novemdiales, as they are called, may be observed in different ways in the various particular churches. In addition to the celebration of Mass, Bishops might encourage public prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours, Eucharistic and other devotional prayer, lectures on the teaching and legacy of the Pope, activities for the relief of the poor offered for the intention of his soul, or other such initiatives,” Lopes wrote.
Immaculate Conception and Assumption Parish celebrated a Solemn Memorial Mass for Pope Benedict XVI on the 9th Day of Mourning, Friday, January 13, at 7:00 PM, at Immaculate Conception Church. May he rest in peace.
On Thursday, January 5, at 3:30 AM EST (9:30 AM local time), the Funeral Mass for Pope Benedict XVI was celebrated, preceded by the praying of the Rosary. You can view the Funeral services at the links below:
