The Parish of Immaculate Conception and Assumption of Our Lady was established by Timothy Cardinal Dolan on August 1, 2015, with Rev. Anthony D. Sorgie as the founding pastor.
Many Italian immigrants made their way to the village of Tuckahoe, to work in its world famous marble quarry. In response to the immigrants, the National Italian Parish of the Assumption was created. Its first Mass was celebrated by Reverend Vincent Lojacono, the first pastor (1911). The parish men built Assumption Hall—later renamed Fr. Fata Hall (1924). Assumption School opened and was staffed by the Religious Teachers Filippini (1959). With pride, a Pipe Organ was installed in the church (1963). In response to September 11, 2001, the Assumption Church Prayer Garden was established (2005); it will serve the community as a place of prayer and healing for many years to come.
