Mary, Mother of God and Our Mother
When Pope Francis was studying in Germany, he saw the image of Mary, Undoer of Knots. The image spoke to him deeply of Mary's role in our salvation. Eve, our First Mother, disobeyed God. Mary's "Yes!"'; her "Behold the handmaid of the Lord!" undid the knot of Eve's sin.
Mary knows what troubles are; she knows challenges! She was an unwed mother when she conceived Jesus, the Son of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit. She had to face Joseph's doubts and worry. Mary had her own temptations. Her deep faith and trust in God helped her stay focused on her Spouse, the Holy Spirit, and the profound love of God the Father. She did not allow the Evil One to tie her into knots! That's not to say that she didn't struggle! It is to say that where Eve cooperated with the Evil One's temptations; Mary refused to be tied up into knots. As Mother of God she gave life to the Son of God, Jesus. She gives life to us too, especially when we turn to her seeking her help!
This year at the 5th Annual Mary Festival on Monday, May 9, we are honoring Mary under the title of Mary, Undoer of Knots. You are invited to come, enjoy a delicious dinner and pray the rosary, while our Children's Choir leads us in song. Below is the prayer to ask for her help.
PRAYER
Dearest Holy Mother, Most Holy Mary, You undo the knots that suffocate your children, extend your merciful hands to me. I entrust to you today this knot and all the negative consequences that it provokes in my life. I give you this know that torments me and makes me unhappy and so impedes me from uniting myself to you and your son, Jesus, my Savior.
I run to you, Mary, Undoer of Knots, because I trust in you! I know that you never despise a sinning, suffering child who comes to ask you for help. I believe that you can undo this knot because Jesus grants you everything. I believe that you want to undo this knot because you are my Mother. I believe that you do this because you love me with the eternal love of God.
Thank you, Dear Mother.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me! Amen.
